Send a newsletter

For owners and admins

PaidCal is where you write the issue and publish it on your site. Brevo is what sends it and holds the real subscriber lists. Connect Brevo once, then each issue is: write, push to Brevo, test, send.

How people subscribe

Each signup is added to your Brevo list and listed under Messages › Subscribers. There is no double opt-in. Brevo's list is the one that matters: removing someone under Subscribers does not remove them in Brevo, and a Brevo unsubscribe does not show here. Manage the list in Brevo.

Connect Brevo

Go to Admin › Newsletter and press Settings. Fill in Sender Name, Sender Email (an address verified in Brevo), an optional Reply-To Email, and press Load from Brevo to pick the Default Contact Lists. Press Test next to the API key; it should say "Connected!". The key itself is kept on the server. Press Save Settings.

Write and send an issue

  1. Press New Campaign. Fill in the Subject Line and Preview Text. Ask AI can suggest both.
  2. Build the content in the Blocks tab: a hero, a greeting, one or more articles (each with images, a headline, body text, an optional PDF and a link) and an optional sponsor. Videos must be under 25 MB. Check the Preview tab.
  3. Press Save Draft.
  4. Under Target Lists, press Load from Brevo and tick the lists. Untouched, it uses the defaults from Settings.
  5. Press Push to Brevo. You will see "Campaign pushed to Brevo" and an "In Brevo" badge.
  6. Press Send Test Email, enter your address and read the test on your phone.
  7. Press Send Now via Brevo and confirm. This cannot be undone.
  8. Press Publish to Website if you want the issue in your site's newsletter archive at /newsletter.

After sending, the chart icon opens Campaign Stats: sent, delivered, opens, clicks and unsubscribes, with a link to the campaign in Brevo.

Edits after "Push to Brevo" do not reach Brevo. Once pushed, a campaign is frozen on Brevo's side. To change it, create a new campaign, or edit it inside Brevo. Test before you push.
