Sell courses and digital goods

For owners and admins

A course is a listing in a "Courses" category that clients can buy with a card. Paying creates their account, gives them a downloads area with the files you attach, and adds them to a Brevo list. Lessons by email are a Brevo automation you build in Brevo; PaidCal's part is the sale, the account and the downloads.

What is and is not included

PaidCal doesPaidCal does not
Sell the course with Stripe Checkout
Create the buyer's account and email them a setup link
Show "Day N of M" progress in their account
Serve protected downloads (ebooks, workbooks, videos) to enrolled clients
Add the buyer to your Brevo lists
Send lessons or emails on a schedule
Host lesson pages inside the app
Sell a single file that is not a course
Offer coupons, subscriptions or refunds

Set up a course

  1. Create a category named exactly Courses under Admin › Categories, if you do not have one.
  2. In Listings, add a listing in that category with a Price above 0 and Published on. See Add a service.
  3. Save it, then reopen it. The Course Settings panel holds Brevo List IDs (comma-separated), an optional Brevo Template ID for a confirmation email, and Course Duration (days), 21 by default. Bundle Course IDs lets one listing enrol the buyer in several courses.
  4. Under Course Files › Upload New File, add each download with a Title, a File Type (Ebook, Cheat Sheet, Workbook, Video, Other), a description and the file. PDF, EPUB, ZIP, MP4 and MOV up to 100 MB. File titles are shown publicly on the course page as "What's included"; the files themselves are not.

If the Course Settings panel is missing, the category name does not match what the form expects. Tell us and we will align it; the files section still works meanwhile.

What the buyer experiences

  1. They press Enroll Now on the course page (or Get the Bundle) and pay on Stripe Checkout.
  2. They land on "Enrollment Confirmed!" and receive an email, "Access your course", with a Set Up Your Account button. The button opens the sign-up page with their email filled in and a one-time proof that they own that inbox. They choose a password and are signed in. A returning buyer gets a Sign In to Your Account button instead.
  3. In their account, the Courses tab shows progress and Course Downloads with Preview and Download. Downloads are served through short-lived links and only to enrolled clients.
  4. Your admins receive "New course enrollment".

If the setup link has expired, the buyer can use Forgot Password? on the login page; that emails the same inbox.

Lessons by email

Your public /courses page describes buying a course and keeping the materials in your account, which is what every PaidCal site does. If you also send lessons by email, that part is a Brevo automation you build in Brevo, triggered by the list you named in Brevo List IDs. The "Day N of M" counter in the client's account is simple date arithmetic from the purchase date and the course duration; it does not know what Brevo has sent. If the list IDs are empty, buyers still pay and get their downloads, but they join no list and get no lessons.

Prerequisites

The buyer's setup email is currently branded for one site. If your site sells courses, tell us before you launch so it carries your name and address.
